Persistence finally paid off - PICS
« on: January 17, 2010, 05:24:38 AM »
Have had a month of nothing but snow, sleet, ice and rain.  Checked my traps every day, nothing.  Rebaited and rebaited.  Zero to -5 temps.  Finally the weather broke and it warmed up to 35-45.  Checked my bucket sets this morning and had a big fat male boar coon.  First one since I started trapping again.

Saw tracks in the snow so I knew something had to be back there.  Finally got him.  Bogmaster, I sure appreciate your advice and tips, you sure know what you are doing.  The recommendation to use Blackie's Blend, Fatal Attraction and Sledgehammer lures and baits finally brought them in.  The smell lasts for a long time; you can't beat this lure and bait.

Click on the pictures to make them bigger.   ;D

Mike- CONGRATULATIONS, I am tickeled pink. One of the things about being a trapping supply dealer--we get to share in what you do.
Hope this warmer weather keeps you real busy skinning.
Blackies stuff is real good, but then I try to handle only what works and what has worked for me.
Lenons,Blackies and Dobbins have been a part of my inventory for many years and all are great people to work with.
If things get going real well, you may have to teach Peggy ,the finer points of skinning coon(LOL-if there are any).
 Once again--congratulations.
 Tom

You stuck it out and as the weather let up that boar just couldn't help take a stroll.
Way to go!

Sure make a nice hat. Good Job!!!
I want movement, not a calm course of existence. I want excitement and danger and the chance to sacrifice myself for my love. I feel in myself a superabundance of energy which finds no outlet in our quiet life.”

THANKS, guys--it feels real good when your hard work pays off--now only if the fur buyers would pay us what we think our furs are worth, lol.
