All 4'11"s of her.

I am going to hijack this thread for a bit because the quote made me think of GBO member Broom Rider. She claimed that she was 5'-14&1/2" tall ;D

I had not seen her post for a while and my search for a Broomrider or Broom Rider found nothing. She had her picture in the Avator and was a red head perhaps from Ohio? Maybe she had her account deleted or changed her handle?

No, I was not in love, but did enjoy her good, honest, post's.

met mine at Ft. Huachuca; I was in SF testing gear at EPG, and she was a data collector for the contractor, on summer break from UofA. We barely got along, then I left the Army and joined the Marine Corps. She saw me in my blues, and figured I had potential. I invited her out to my first Marine Corps Birthday Ball, proposed 10 Nov, 6 weeks later we were married. Moved every two years since, lived all over the world, but we raised two of the best young folks I know, and facing the empty nest together. I praise God for her every day!

   Great stories, gang..my story is a bit more mundane I guess...

  When I was a junior in high school, my folks sold one farm and moved to another. That was in February..and February around here is rather cold..but not so cold that I didn't notice the little gal who lived directly across the road from me..each time our paths crossed in the local general store....Little did I realize, she had noticed me each day as I drove tractors through snow doing the usual daily farm chores..but by summer we had made a more firm connection.
      I graduated HS, went into the Army and we were married time I came back home. It has been 53 years now..54 this summer. Any rough spots were never from major disagreements..but rather those early years, from just "making do" financially.
  She gave me 2 great sons (one deceased young)..a princess grandaughter and 3 fine grandsons, "ironglowjr" who posts here being the eldest.

      A word of experience (IMO)  It is often said "opposites attract"..that may be true, but I believe similars have a better chance of staying together. Just my opinion of course, but the more things you agree upon to start with...the less hurdles and roadblocks that have to be overcome.
   If you both hold the same views on family, faith, frugality, politics etc..the better your chances..(IMO). That is not to say people holding views diverse from one another cannot have a solid marriage..but there are obviously, more "speedbumps" to get over.

Mauser98:  Oops, you are right it was Luke AFB.

Someone else said "likes attract", maybe somewhat.  We are very much alike in a lot of things, but very differant in others.  But the spooky thing is if something happens to her, I know it, no matter how far apart we are.  And if something happens to me, she knows it.  If she is thinking of me I will call her, and vise-a-versa.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

  That has got to a true soul-bonding, Sourdough.

     Not to hijack..but to add to slightly;
     BTW: Do you folks believe that often the Lord had someone out there for you and He connected the dots to bring you together ?
     I have often felt this to be true and have heard others say the same.

Since the present divorce rate is something like 50% you got to wonder how efficient "Upstairs" is working. ::)

Probably more like how well were paying attention to what "upstairs" would have us do. I've yet to counsel a couple that did it Gods way, regardless of the other person, that wound up in divorce.

Now Brother Nelson does not need me to help him speak on behalf of "upstairs" but we must never Blame "upstairs" for the shortcomings of those of us "downstairs". He points the way with the light of life! WE sometimes blowout the candle. SEE below \/!

  TeamNelson & Oldshooter;
     Ditto.. The Lord keeps putting "detour" signs up throughout our lives...and too often we just kick them over and go the way we were heading..

IMO Upstairs needs to refresh downstrair's memory as to who is in charge. Waaay overdue as I see it.

  The reminder is ubiquitous..we see it every day..it is available to all..often given away free. Unlike some, He's not going to force it upon anyone..He said, "behold, I stand at the door and knock"...
