.308 Win COL question
« on: January 18, 2010, 02:13:23 AM »
Working up hunting loads for my Encore.  Nosler says 2.800 COL for 150 gr. BT.  Is it typical that the throat is very deep in these? ???  I mic 2.940 COL.  I settled on 2.850 COL, but that seems like an awful long jump to the lands.  Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks!
John

Manufactures have to stay with a length that will fit any chamber and magazine for any gun to feed proper. Being a single shot and if the ammo isn't going to be used in a magizine that feeds a rifle you can make the COL any length you want as long as it works in the gun intended.
Unless the barrel is a custom it will probably be cahmbered to fit any of the larger bullets so my be long throated when using light bullets.
