Pineapple Wine
« on: January 18, 2010, 03:34:19 AM »
This is a real easy to make wine and does not cost alot to make.  I was able to get whole pineapples at a Aldi store in my area for .99 each. I bought 24 of them  and with a knife it took me about 1 1/2 hours to clean and cut them up.  I should yeild about 12 gallons from 24 pineapples, about 4 lbs. of cut up fruit plus water and 2lbs of sugar per gallon.
You can also make the wine from canned fruit or canned juice, I have done both before and it all works well.
This time of year when nothing is growing its a good wintertime wine to make.    Jedman

Could you go through the process from cutting pineapple to end result, wine? I've never made wine before, and would like to give it a try. Thanks!

bearmgc,  I am a very slow one finger typer and the best information I can give you is to do a winemaking search and you can find alot more out quickly as to if home winemaking might appeal to you.
One website that is good is Jack Keller Winemaking,  he has alot of information there and there are plenty of other sites to learn about this great hobby .
If you have never made any wine before I would start out with a 1 gallon batch because you probably have most of the items you need around the house.
I make between 60 to 100 + gallons a year and dont make less than 5 gallons of any at a time so alot of my methods  are different than what you would use to start out with.
You will be suprised at the many kinds of wine you can make with fresh fruits, vegtables , flowers, ect and even canned fruit or frozen juices ect. Look into it, it's fun and you can start out small without spending more than a few dollars and you will know if it suits you quickly.     Have Fun     Jedman
