M94 Rifle Takedown 32 WS Question
« on: January 18, 2010, 07:44:22 AM »
I just picked up a M94 takedown rifle in 32 WS. This is the 26 inch barrel model with a half octagon/half round barrel with a full buckhorn rear sight. The former owner stated it was rated at 75%-80% at a local Cabela's Gun Room. The gun is tight no cracks with a cresent but. Everything fits no gaps. The only issue my untrained eye spotted were the two tang screws. Both have a brownish/gold patina and are a  little boggered. Was the half octagon/half round barrel a special order? I know without pictures it is tuff BUT what would a rifle like this sell for?

When was it made ? The screws on a gun made in 1958 looked like they were hit with a file on one side . The gun is un fired and the price was $550.00 but not a take down .
26th edition of gun values - 1894-1929 70 % $925.00 +20% for takedown . + 30% to 60% for delux ( your bl. may mean it was a delux )
1940-1964 70% $300.00 no mention of takedown .
In both cases 3030 and 32 are same worth .
Hope this helps , sounds like a nice gun .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

I just ran down the serial # on line & it was made in 1929. Was the half octagon/half round a special order? Thanks for the input!

Pre the previous owner they apprased it in the $1300 range and offered him $900 cash. So you are in the ballpark sight unseen!  Good job! I opened this post because I questioned the "deal" I got if it was really worth $1300...I guess even a blind squirrel sometimes finds a nut once in a while!! ;D

Tim 50 ,
you know what i look at shooting as my fun . Some people go to movies , some bowl , some go to ball games . When they finish the money spent is gone but they enjoyed themselves . If i get a gun and i pay a bit to much or go to sell one every so often and loose a buck or two but enjoyed it like the others did their ball games or movies what have i reall lost ? A deal is great but the fun should come first some of the time .
Are you planning to shoot it ? if so let us hear how it goes .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

I got some at a gun show a couple weeks ago . Yep the one from the closet followed me home also. Where are you located ? The shows are in VA. The guy had ammo and new brass . Speer and Hornady both make a bullet for it . If ya find a deal let me know and I will do the same .
