Shipping a muzzleloader?

I am considering selling my CVA accura rifle. Where do you get a list of states you can't ship to. Thanks, Don

I doubt that there is a list anywhere that makes any sense. The best thing is to advertise it and when you get interest ask the buyer if he has a problem with his state. The responsibility for the sale really falls on the buyer. As far as shipping USPS does not have a problem or does UPS as long as you get someone knowledgeable to deal with in those two shippers.

as stated, ask whoever you sell to about any state or local laws involved. if you send it usps it has to be in an unmarked box and don't tell them it's a gun or blackpowder rifle. that's their rule, not just something i'm tellin' you. be double dog sure you don't send any powder or caps with it. good luck and have a good'en, bubba.

My son just shipped me an inline bp rifle via USPS Express with no problems. But he wrapped the box in plain white paper so you couldn't see the what it was or who made it. He also removed the bolt. He wasn't sure if that was necessary, but it wasn't that hard to do.

You don't want to ship it to Washington DC, or to New Jersey. Has to go to an FFL in New Jersey.
Chicago might be restricted, I am not sure.

Yes, Chicago is restricted and NYC, too.  Washington State just recently changed their laws, I'm not sure about shipping there.  Don't even bother with Kalifornia, toooooo complicated!

Several states have restrictions on ML shipments by dealers, but not individuals, Washington state is one of them,  Cabelas shows a list of states with restrictions. Washington state requires dealers to ship MLs to an FFL, but individuals may ship to other individuals with no problems.

That yellow banner is a "CABELAS" thing. Cabelas requires a "Verification Of Information" form from Michigan residents before shipping a black powder rifle/pistol, or paintball gun. This is just a form that states you are not under indictment for, nor have you been convicted of a felony punishable by imprisonment for 4 years or more; or as provided by law, meet the conditions after conviction with your rights being restored. This VOI form also has your DOB to prove you are at least 18, address, must be notarized, and can either be mailed or faxed back to Cabelas. Once on file, you can order at your leisure, and they will ship to your door.

Again, this is for Michigan, other States may be quite different.

That's not true for Washington state which is on the yellow list,  Cabelas or any dealer can only ship MLs to an FFL here.
