While looking for a replacement forend for my .444 I paid a well known Marlin customizer $35.00 for a very pretty slender walnut forend. From the pictures I thought it was the correct one for the .444. Alas it did not fit.
Perhaps my favorite "Marlin" is my Glenfield 30 but I've never cared that much for the stock set. With about 3 hours of tinkering and a bit of metal removed from the nose cap that slender walnut forend now resides on said Glenfield. Now I just need a nice walnut buttstock to go with it. That shouldn't be hard.
I still have to find a good forend for my .444.
