« on: January 18, 2010, 03:25:49 PM »
Just put new brakes and rotors on my wifes honda accord. The problem i am having is when i drive it down the road the steering wheel shimmes and when i apply the breaks it pulls to the right. THANKS for any good advice on what could cause this.

Usually a shimmy is caused by a warped rotor, but you said you just replaced them  so I think you have oil on the rotors or pads. Take them apart and clean them GOOD with a good brake parts cleaner, and try not to touch the pads or rotors with greasy fingers when you put them back together. It doesn't take much oil to cause trouble, especially with new pads as they haven't broke in to the rotors yet.

one of your calipers may be hanging up. check the one oposite of the way the car pulls

Thanks for the info. but i talked to a guy that works at a honda dealership and told him what i did and told me take the two bolts back off that holds the calpier the ones that have the little rubber boot and put bearing grease on them because these are called sliders long story short fixed the problem no shimmey and no pulling.THANKS
