I received this today.  Heads up, everyone!
-WH-

Hey Folks,
Just wanted to tell you all of a change in the law for
renewing your licenses, plates and stickers.  In the past you had the
entire month of your birthday to renew.  BUT..........due to the fact
the Ohio State Highway Patrol is running in a huge deficit, they changed
the law so that you must renew PRIOR to your birthday.  This was due to
the passage of HB2.  They intentionally did not inform anyone so they
can attach a $20 late fee to every person with a license in Ohio who
doesn't know about the change!  (I didn't see any of this on the news or
in the paper.)  They got me for two cars this month and they refused to
waive it.  That was $40 I had to pay.  This state is sneaky so I want to
make sure that no other person pays it.  Make certain that you forward
this email or one of your own to everyone you have in your contact book.
This is not right and we should not be tricked into paying for the
State's inability to run a business within a budget.

the bastidges got me for 60.00... 30 years of commercial plates being due in may and a couple years back they switched me to december. ( days "late" and they nailed me too...

I still can not see how they can penilize me for something I did not need or use for the several days they were "expired"

their cash flow problem is just that - theirs not mine. I can't stand this state hardly anymore, and its gettin worse.
Jesus Loves You.... right now just as you are.

I got stuck with my deisel pu. Was driving the car to save on fuel. One month later went to get plates= $20 more. Now these dummycrats that is our county said after asking about my classic car-- yep that will be another $20. Where will it all end!

No, you can thank Bob Taft, if you want to blame a governor. That's how long you that law has been on the books. Actually, it was the Republican legislature then that passed it, (when they weren't turning the state treasury over to crooked coin dealers.) Taft was too busy trying to dodge felony charges.

I'm not sure I'm following this right...if you don't renew your license plate on time, you get a $20 "penalty" fee charged on top of the plate charge?  I never renew my boat trailer or camper plates on my birthday (March) 'cause I don't use them 'til later.  They used to pro-rate my camper fee 'cause I only renewed in August for the coon dog trials.

Just a thought if this is the case...they are expired so just buy new plates!

Never mind, just read the BMV page, probably charge you for expired and the cost of a new plate.  This sucks, they are penalizing me for being unemployed during this recession!
