Only the older lead ones... the spent steel shells aren't nearly as good.

Personally I love the smell that's  left in the air after a full belt of 7.62 NATO goes through an M60...

Happiness is having a healthy, loving family, friends and a good relationship with GOD.
The rest of what you say are pleasures!  
Being alive, being out amongst all of Mother Natures greatness.
A cool crisp morning, a warm summer day, the snow & rain, hunting (either alone or with someone), a warm meal with family or friends, a roof over ones head, but most of all, FREEDOM to do as we please in a land that still allows us to!!!  ;)
After that, not much else matters.

Everyone who said something about shotgun shells missed a couple points...  Oh yeah they smell good but sometimes they smell better!

A cold frosty late November morning...  Three pointers locked up on a covey of bobwhite is southern Oklahoma on the banks of the Red River...  That's when they smell best!  When you have a couple of plump quail in your bag and a still warm hull wafting it's scent under your nose...
