Fur Prices for this year?
« on: November 02, 2003, 03:54:34 AM »
What have you heard about them? By what I have read coyotes, red and gray fox, cats, otter, and other lonhaired furs will be doing good. I also heard that semi-heavy coon will be doing good. I was planning on skinning ALL of my possums but they say only the better ones will sell. I heard that the smaller ones will be worth little to nothing. I don't want to skin my possums and not get NOTHING for them. Does anyone on here skin possums?

Also what grade of coon would I probably have the most of here in central KY?

Thanks,
Zach

16, unless you're covered up with skinning why not skin everything you catch?  $.50 for an oppossum is still half a buck.  Doesn't seem like much but you won't be wasting a critter either.  If you aren't planning on skinning the thing, it isn't sickly or a nuisance animal (other than messing with you're plans) skin it or release.     I know I'm crazy but I believe I enjoy working up my furs as much as catching them.  Nothing like full hangers to put a little zing in your step.

Thanks. It's like I said. I was planning on skinning all my possums and now thjat you have encouraged me, I am definetly skinnig them. It will pay off with a bigger fur check which equals more supplies for next year. Thanks Again.

Zach
