This thread brings up some old ideas of mine. I feel that the LDA trigger system and the Sig DAK are the only two comparable systems on the market and make a very good alternative to plastic striker fired pistols. I originally dismissed the LDA because like all para's it has the series 80 firing pin safety (why I went with springfield) and it has many additional parts and full stripping is more complicated than a standard 1911. I am a tinkerer so being able to completely strip the 1911 and replace anything on it makes me all warm and fuzzy.
However in a fit of insomnia last night I looked at manuals for most common DA pistols and found that the LDA actually does not have a significantly greater amount of parts than other DA models, so if you compare to other pistols in its class, especially the DAK Sig, it is nothing extraordinary. Also, most (maybe all) current DA pistols have some firing pin block safety.
The sig is an outstanding firearm, exhibiting very good accuracy and reliability. I have owned a p245 and have shot a 226 in 9mm and 40s&w extensively. I like them very much, want to love them, but they just don't fit me quite right. The 1911 fits me perfectly.
I will watch this thread closely for real world experience from others.
