yes sir they are animals. their women have little or no value to them. they rank just above a dog in the family structure. i know it is wrong without doubt and i cry out for them to stop. however, my cries and yours fall upon deaf ears. they simply do not care what you or i think and will not be influenced in the slightest.

many injustices and barbaric punishments exist in countries other than ours. it is not possible for us to save all or any for that matter from such treatment. i wish like you we could. yet, the truth is we can not.

i commend billy for stopping what he knew to be wrong. yet he was there with a big powerful military to back his actions. had he been alone in that country his noble actions would have assured his death probably at the end of a whip and the one he was going to save would have still been flogged.

any one of us would be horrified to witness such cruelty as it is just so far from anything we know. yet it screams in our face just what kind of people they are and we must not forget just what is in store for us if they have a chance.

Well we have quite the situation here.
A 13 year old girl going to be beat, possibly to death. but, a big but, her children would be godless scum if she lives.
Now the questions? Is she godless scum or a child of God that is lost? Does God love her? would he want us to love her as he does?

I'll Say this.. The punishment is Harsh! I think we can all agree on this.
Culture is Culture . This is something these People have done, Sence the begining of Their culture. Is it right ? I think not to the extent they take it (90 lashes). And the Cutting of skin.
Now I know If I was 13 and I did something Wrong and I got 5 ~~Lashes~~Switches. I would remember it . I DO remember what a Willow switch across the back of my legs At 15 felt Like. Did I deserve it? Your darn right!! That was the First and Last time I ever stole.. I had to work for the Man the rest of the summer also.. That was One long summer and a Lesson well learned. The problem with our culture any more. Is we spare the rod to much.

So SK do you feel it is ok for your to lash your kids so hard that it slices there skin? If not for your own why would you support the right for someone else to do that to their child? Are you a child abuser? Or are you just a child abuse supporter?

Now I do not believe in sparing the rod. But I have seen this type of punishmant in person and for the disrepency commited it is way too severe. Now for a rapist, child abuser, muderer or thief I would have no problem watching or dishing out this punishment.

Getting physical or even mouthing off to your teacher may be small potatoes in your school but it sure isn't so over there.

Her behavior reflects very poorly on the entire extended family and isn't another small potatoe either. I am surprised her family let her live.

This is truely a bad thing to see happen . We do not wish to have other countries involve them selves in our laws and customs ( many do though ) . If we get involved do we open the door to our culture being checked ? Where do we draw the line ? I don't know .

That the Muslim is a heathen is a well established given, and while I don't remember any international incidents involving 3 US soldiers stopping a flogging

, I do remember reading that this was in Saudi Arabia, and I also know that things far worse happen in other countries. I also know that butting into other people's business is why the U.S. is broke now.
That the kid got caught with the cell phone, and that SHE ASSAULTED THE MISTRESS that caught her, is of no concern to me, nor could I do anything about it.
While everyone is concerned about human rights in Saudi Arabia, I am more concerned about NEW BORN, or NEVER BORN rights here in the U.S.
One girl in Saudi Arabia gets flogged for breaking school rules and assaulting a teacher, and everyone in the world is outraged.
Fifty plus million babies are tortured, dismembered, and thrown into the trash here in the United States, and it goes almost unnoticed, and seldom mentioned. That is about one million, six hundred thousand a year. Hmmmmmmmm
I guess this flogging thing is just more visually appealing for discussion, than an a abortion. I guess to most, that a flogging is more brutal and interesting, than ripping an infant apart, and throwing him in the trash.
We may say what we want about the Saudis, but glass houses have many breakable windows.
And although some are interested in the "condition of the girl", I suppose one doesn't have to wonder about the "condition of the baby".

Dee, thank you for the perspective. I've had the ringside seats to tribal brutality posing as religious law; the cult of abortion is no different to me. They are anti-female circumcision, and pro-death, because they worship choice over all else. They felt it was their moral duty to cover up sexual assault against minors and child abuse in AL in the name of their faith. They rationalize the use of harvested parts (very profitable by the way) because it might allow another woman to choose a longer, more comfortable life ... some have gone so far as to suggest that that is what Jesus would do. May God have mercy on their souls.

Flogging in Saudi Arabia is conducted with doctors present, and the sentence is doled out over a period of time ... they are not generally flogged to death as a result. The family of the victim, or in this case the girl's family, has the option to plead for mercy, which is a life or long term sentence in a very horrific prison. Last time I was living in SA, a foreigner was found guilty of murder; the victim's family granted mercy, and the woman might still be in prison if she's alive. I know her country was seeking to have her transferred to their own penal system. Flogging may be a kindness of a sort. She will live, she will bear marks for the rest of her life, but she will also have the protection and comfort of her family when she returns to her home. She may be allowed to complete her education, and eventually be married off, most likely not as a first wife. Not a system I like or condone, but not a suprise to her, her family, or anyone who lives in that country.

I too have had the "ring side seat" TN. I have seen first hand what American mommas, and daddies, do to their babies, and each other.
What grand parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews do to their parents and each other. What governments, and courts do to innocents, and nothing to criminals. It is a mean ole world, and to get excited about something happening half way around the world with all the misery here, is beyond me. We need to clean our own mess up. But that is just an old man's opinion.

TN what we witnessed in Hafir al Baton was not a proper flogging, but was the religious police beating a woman. I see this and the abortion issue as one in the same, wrong no matter where in the world is WRONG. And DEE there were lots of incidents in Saudi that didn't make the news. One I know of personally was where a motor pool NCO scavenged a coil off of an old junk car in the desert. If ya been there you know about all the junk in the desert. He was arrested for stealing and was not disarmed. When he heard them talking about cutting off his. Hand to his Battalion XO he locked and loaded. The situation as pretty much everything there was ended when one of the Royal Family called and said he was to be released and the whole thing dropped.

Having other distractions ,I just saw your post today. I am aware that there is a push from certain groups towards this but I'm not aware of any widespread acceptance or practise.

We have native people applying some tribal justice and rulings, this is not new. Canada( at least the Govt.) preaches multi-culture-ism which I consider detrimental to a peaceful and harmonious country personally.

IMO Sharia law in Canada is only effective if it is tolerated by those who wish to have it imposed on themselves.
