Hello,looking for bolt for 788 in .243, a friends daughter lost hers hunting deer this year  :'(  Thank Tom

OK, I'll bite, how did she loose a rifle while deer hunring? Good luck finding the replacement. I hope it is as nice as what she had.

Fred, well,she had unloaded the rifle,and walk ed back to her truck,and put it behind the seat. It was geting dark and she did not notice the bolt was gone,until she got home. (about 20 miles) She went back the next and looked for hours, but no luck.  :( :-[ :'(    Thanks Tom

Those bolts are scarce. The bolt handle is silver soldered to the body. If you stick a bolt with a hot reload and try to tap it loose it may break, hence their scarcity. You can watch the gun auction sites or do a Google search for one. And you do realize the headspace will need to be checked before firing it with the replacement bolt. Tight is easy to correct, loose isn't.

Hello, I tried most of the part places,with no luck.  :( I have a part time gunsmithing business,so I have all the right tools to make head space right. Hope to retire in about 2 years and do general smithing full time.

As much as I hate to say it you will probably have to buy another complete rifle to get the bolt. A buddy of mine looked for a full year and ended up buying a complete rifle just to get the bolt.
