Supporting Christian Businesses
« on: January 21, 2010, 05:59:47 AM »
My best friend got a Buck pocket knife years ago and showed me something he found in the box.  In Buck's paperwork they (at that time anyway) had a little message welcoming you to the Buck family and encouraging you to get to know Jesus to join an even greater family.  Since that time I have been a loyal Buck knife carrier. (The fact that they have an excellent product also helps  ;D
 My question is, are there any other companies that are Christian owned and operated that I could support?  [not putting down anyone else, I just like to support fellow-believers when possible }

I don't use that as a criterion when shopping, and have actually come to suspect "Christian" businesses. The worst shysters I have ever dealt with anywhere wore Christianity on their sleeve and used it as part of their marketing. It was clear they were trying to deceive me into thinking they were decent people when they clearly were not. When problems arose they were the hardest to deal with and problem resolution was always ugly. Others, such as Tyther Contracting, in the Minnesota metro area even advertises that they give "over 15% of  company proceeds to non profit organizations". Well, that's fine, but my take on it is that they are probably inflating their prices to do it. The work this company does includes billing your insurance company, so it is fair to suspect that they are billing too much. Buyer beware when it comes to "Christian" businesses.

My recommendation is that you treat businesses in a business-like manner.
