My Peavey T-Max has a tube preamp & 500 watts of solid state.  I run that through a pair of 2x10 Peavey cabinets.  But if I'm playing a small room I just use my 200 watt Fender 15" combo.  The Peavey set-up is just too much power, not to mention harder to haul.  As I played more I found myself doing everything I could to eliminate as much gear as possible.  It sure gets heavy at 2:00 am.

Gents, I got my new guitar for Christmas just before we left on vacation so I'm only now getting acquainted with her. Levy's strap arrived today so she's complete. Anybody else get as tickled about a guitar as I?
get on utube.com & type in (tommy emanuel) enjoy.

Spirithawk, that's a nice looking goldtop. You don't look anything like your avatar by the way. ;)

Here's my Les Paul custom.

Indeed.  Absolute beauty!

I been wanting to get a real honest to goodness Gibson for a while now, but just haven't had the funds for it.  I don't think I can really afford/justify a Les Paul (much as I'd like one!), but I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a used 2004-ish Melody Maker.  At that time they were made with the P90 "dogear" pickup which I really like the sound of, instead of the newer Melody Makers which have a single coil a little more akin to what's used on the Fenders.

Great guitar though GRIMJIM!

Nice.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I used to have a bunch of guitars and finally decided to thin the herd and buy one really nice one. When I saw that one in a local music store and played it, I just had to have it.

I recently did the same thing with bass guitars. My go-to was a '79 p-bass. Awesome guitar but I wanted another good one so I sold a Washburn 6 string and a Warwick fretless that had been sitting around not being played much and bought this.

I'm playing out for the first time in 8 years this Saturday and the Fender is going to be my backup I think. I'm actually kind of nervous about playing. Which is cool.

Cool. I know you'll do good but most of all have fun.  Maybe it's the artist in me but some guitars are pure works of art besides sounding beautiful. I never get tired of looking at them.
