Garmin Nuvi tip!!!
« on: January 22, 2010, 04:01:50 PM »
I have had my Garmin Nuvi for a few months now and think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. ;D Did I mention I really like it!! ;D Well yesterday at lunch time I was looking for a place to eat using the resturants they provide in the points of interest. This is a new area I am working in so I did not know what places were around there to eat that is why I was looking. Well I picked Wendy's. When I did it said acquaring satalites. Well this message apeared at the top of the screen for the rest of the day. I just thought it was some kind of fluke. Then this morning I get in the truck and turn the Nuvi on again and I get the same message. I drove all the way into work with it not working. I got to thinking it took a dump on me and I would have to buy a new one. I was pretty bummed out about that since I really got used to using it. I work all over and wonder how I ever got by without it before. I would feel like I was missing my right arm or something. :o When I got to work I pulled it out of the cradel and started to look at it. Then I found a reset button on the bottom of it. I took a pen and pushed it in. The unit turned off. I turned it back on and all is good now. ;D So if you ever have this happen just push the reset button. Dale

A bad day at the range is better than a good day at work!!

Good Tip Dale:  I believe you will find it on page 42 of your manual.  I am glad you brought that to folks attention.
There is a learning process to effectively using a gps.  Do not throw your compass and map away!
