PT1911 vs Springfield 1911 Loaded

  Hey guys here is a good one for ya: I work at an Armory and everyone says that they have the best firearm, but this one was funny- we have a guy that lives buy the adage of if u dont pay a million dollars for it its garbage,  he has a springfield 1911 Loaded  . Well knowing this my buddy got a Taurus PT1911( and he challeged him to a competion(50, 25, and 15 yrds), after hearing the challenge he said " sure we can have a competion but i will stomp you, its not even in the same level as my Loaded 1911. Well long story short the pt1911 one hands down, after he lost he stayed in his truck untill we left ....so remember price is not always the "only" factor....

Many times in a contest such as this, it's not about the arrow, but rather the skill of the Indian.

I'm a PT1911 owner, but I'm not sure this proves anything. 

I do think the PT1911 comes from the factory with a much nicer trigger pull than the Springfields.

Both guns are made in Brazil, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they came down the same line.

Yes, Springfield Armory 1911's and now made in Brazil.

Go to the gun store and look on the frame.

Marked "Made in Brazil".

VC, appreciate that bit of data. I own about 8 guns made in brazil, and if the Lord tarries I shall own a few more.

Took my PT1911 out Saturday, only mod is a set of blonde esmerelda grips. This is my first very own 1911, and I can't imagine what better would be like. Got her in a swap over this last year, and hadn't shot her yet. Other 1911 owners were eyeing her, and one old guy came up and probably would've asked her to dinner if I didn't cut in. Sweet trigger, great sights, fed like a champ, chambered everything fine, and grouped tight unsupported. Then I threw the Ciener slide on it - its got less kick than a CO2 air pistol, and grouped tight. What else could you load on it that it doesn't have?

I've had 5? taurus pistols and all were alright EXCEPT my brand new 1911, which had a bad slide to frame fit and feeding problems, it got sold for parts because it was garbage- wouldn't even feed hardball fmj.  Just a lemon though, I'm actually pro-taurus.

Let them swap guns, shoot again and see who wins. I bet its the same guy that won the 1st time.

I like Taurus guns, and have a few, but I am about as impressed as can be over my Springfielf loaded 1911.

I have a PT 1911 and like it.  It is also the least expensive of my 1911s and shoots the same as my more expensive kimber, however, Shooting matches all pistols being equal are more a measure of the shooters ability than the guns.  I have on numerous occasions beaten other shooters with some odd ball equipment.  One that comes to mind was a competition between a guy shooting a fully loaded Kimber 1911 target model with compensator and I was shooting an 1858 Remington replica cap and ball revolver.  I beat him handily with a 25 yard pistol score of 98 six X compared to his 75 no X.  By the way my pistol cost me $99 from Cabellas back in the early 90s.

Nothing wrong with the PT1911. You just have to stay away from the $ snobs. I am on a team where most of the guys shoot 1911's...lot of Springfields, several PT's and 1 Sig 1911. We shoot a bunch of ammo monthly. I have seen all brands go down. But, the high $ guns have failed more frequently. Hell, the front sight flew off the Sig less than 100 rounds after coming out of the box!
The biggest issue I have with the PT1911 is that the rail sits lower than the high $ guns, making holster selection when carring with a light a real pain.
I have also noticed that the ambi safety on all the PT1911's starts working out early on, something Taurus needs to work on...and raise the rail!

I happened to luck-up and acquire the very first PT1911 to arrive in Lubbock Texas.

The only thing it has ever been fed are my handloads with my home cast bullets (LEE copy of the H&G 68).  it has performed flawlessly!

The best off-hand pistol shot in town saw it @ the range soon after I got it.  He was shooting his Les Bear (big $$$$ 1911).  I offered him my PT1911 to try.  It shot just as well as his pistol!

I have a pt1911 I've been shooting in IDPA since last February.  I've got about 1,500 rounds down the pipe with no problems what so ever.   The more I shoot it the better it gets.  The weapon has had two malfunctions both magazine related since I took it out of the box.  Anyway I love mine.

ive got a springfield 45 acp its sweet it shoots every thing i have put threw it. my buddies kimber kept stove pipeing. thats why i wanted a taurus 1911 just feel good in your hand.have a great day
