amazing accuracy!
« on: January 23, 2010, 10:21:54 AM »
Shot this group that I think can be covered with that dime! Was shooting my Crosman Quest with premier hollow point hunting pellets .177 cal. 3-9X32 centerpoint scope. scout4<><
This post is a remake of the original, and needs to be here. Thank you very much! scout4<><

27 yard,6 shot group larger than an inch.  Not so amazing.  You don't get to pick which pellets in a group, make up the group.

looks like he fired 3 rounds then made some adjustments and fired 3 more.
Both groups have the holes pretty much touching! Not too bad I would say.

I agree with SS, I do this often when sighting my pellet guns in. Saves putting up more targets. I usually mark mine with an ink pen, and go and shoot again. I think this good shooting, looks pretty plain to me what he did. Two different groups, seperately marked.

Best,

Yeah, weird huh........ most people here want to help each other out. I guess others put a man down to make themselves feel better about their own shortcomings.

yes, that is good. When my crosman 2200 mag was working i could get hole in hole(3 shots in the same hole) at 30 yards with a daisy 4x15mm scope and daisy .22cal 14.3gr wadcut pellets sitting. When you find the best pellets for your gun(some airguns will shot some pellest real good) it will be hard to belive .  Make sure you always run a patch on some fishing line down the bore when you 1st get a new airgun, before i did that with my 2200 i would get 1/2 at 30 after hole in hole or a very small group.

Thanks Fella's for your replys I appreciate that!...I'm not a one to be faint of heart as the saying goes. I do these post so others can benefit from them. I'm sure there are others in about the same budget arena that I am, and so you do the best you can with what is affordable. Besides that, I would'nt spend $600.oo on an air rifle, I could buy a good lever action marlin, or even a decent bolt action rifle for that! Thanks! scout4<><

scout, keep on posting, your right alot of us can't spend a bunch of money, and have to make do with something of lesser value, the trick is to do as you have and make it work for you, there is alot of satisfaction in doing that, so keep up the good work, and keep on posting.......................steg

  Scout4;
Those are great groups. It is obvious you were firing "groups of three"..and they are good for head shots on squirrel, rats & other vermin. I recently got into airgunning by purchasing a Ruger Airhawk, which looks very much like your Crosman and may be made by the same people.
My rifle came with a 4X scope labelled Ruger, but the Truglo style sights were so good I use them exclusively and have relegated the scope to one of my .22LR rifles.
Yes, circling previous shots is an old way of getting more use out of a target, I've done that for years. In the Army we used to use white or black paper patches to cover previous holes.

Hey there:

Keep up the posting for all of us. I shoot many different air guns, myself. I think your shooting is very good. Plenty good for snakes, head shots on squirrels, etc. I am in the country and shoot almost every day, air guns and other guns. I will/can tell you this; air guns will surely make you a better shot with all your other guns.

I am fortunate enough to have a great place to shoot here at home. I have some guns that will put them all in one hole. I don't measure my groups, but I save the targets as "trophys" with all the info on them; date, temp, weather condition, gun, pellet, etc. Keeps a good record in my notebooks.

Keep up the great shooting and posts.

good to see more airgun shooters/hunters out there. Check out this site to see what a "lower power" airgun can really do.   http://www.airgunhunters.com/Gallery.html someone killed a gound hog with a Sheridan 392 on there.
