Does anyone use the rubber bullets and plastic cases for practice ? I'm refering to the kind ya get from Midway...hollow center , fired by a primer . The reviews sound good , was thinking of trying some. Claim their reuseable , would make good basement practice. Thanks , irold

I've shot some plastic bullets in plastic cases made by Speer, powered by primers but, never rubber? Advertisement of that period claimed of carpet or rug should be used as backstop but, wouldn't recommend this practice. Went right through (several layers of this) and riccocheted around concrete basement walls! They are reusable unless bullet damage happens to bullet?

Yea , I've heard of the plastic....never used them tho. I stumbled on these rubber bullets while purchasing something from Midway. I just looked again to make sure I didn't mistake something. The part # from Midway " 489581 is for the 45 Cal. rubber bullet from " X-Ring". Seems like everyone likes them in the reviews. I did have the cases wrong , your supposed to use brass cases with the flash hole enlarged. Obviously this dedicates the brass to the rubber bullet. One of the reviewers says he notches the rim of his brass so as not to confuse it with his regular brass. Guess I can afford a few pieces of brass to try this out. At 12 bucks for 50.....why not.

OK, I was mistaken about these, sorry. I've seen those rubber bullets on their webpage once. Hate the webpage can't ever seem to find what I'm looking for on there? In Bill Jordon's book "No Second Place Winner" he mentions enlarging primer holes for wax bullets. The rubber are probably far more safe than the plasic ever were? Have fun and enjoy the new way to practice.

Better and cheaper to use hot melt glue bullets. You can make them in whatever you have a mould for.

I've used the plastic 38's a lot in years past and have the rubber bullets on hand but have not tried them yet. Setting up my basement pistol range is still a work in progress, and progress is mighty slow... $:-\$

Back in the day I shot pounds of wax bullets through my issue S&W M10 ala Bill Jordon. Now I want to try those hot glue bullets Stimpy first told me about and Flash just mentioned, in a rifle!

I still have some of the old Speer plastic bullets and cases for the .38. Like S.B., I found them to have a bit more penetration than advertised. Shot a bunch of wax bullets as well. I suspect you'll need a good backstop with the rubber bullets as well. My primers are too precious to use in that manner these days, so doubt I'll be ordering any.

Primers aside the hot glue bullets sound good. I shot the Spear plastic ones in .38 a long time ago. Used a box lined the front with newspaper ? prolly 10 pages folded in half, 25 in back and filled the box with packing peanuts. but if ya missed the box, "oops" learning curve! in a metal building with cement floors, they could be tiresome to find.

I was thinking about trying them in rifles my own self! Wasn't going to say anything until I found out if they worked!

Prolly could have used those hot glue ones for critter control in the old camp. (where nothing was valuable or unreplaceable.

As I recall, you just inject hot glue into the bullet mold. When they harden---trim the flashing and load um up.

Just as lead will shrink at the sprue, so will hot melt glue. You have to over fill the cavity just a little to make a small hump over the hole so when it cools, you'll have a complete bullet. Do not use the sprue plate since this just wastes glue.

I used to use the 38 plastic bullets to kill collared doves in Fl., They can kill out to 20' or more, once killed a squirrel from 20'. this with only primer power.

I loved the Speer plastic bullets. I set up a target in the garage and popped a lot of caps. In firearms training they had bad guys on film displayed on white paper. When the shot was fired the film stopped you could see the hit or miss. It was a good judgement shooting tool, and accuracy training. I thought it was fun and did not miss.
