I googled it and found headlines from Michigan, Ohio and Oklahoma talking about police layoffs, in the top 3 returns. Saw that increased gun buying was linked to layoffs. As they say, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away. Honestly, its not their fault ... not enough of them to clean up after all our spoiled kids, and we've put safeties on so many things that natural selection is thwarted.
A truck ran into my car while my daughter was stopping at a yellow. He took the blame, his insurance is paying for everything, he called the cops (he's a firefighter) so I think he's a straight up guy. Cop issues only one ticket, to my daughter for an expired inspection (by a week ... my car, my fault). State requires she (minor) goes in person to court so I went with her (my car, my fault I'm thinking). She's fined $45, would've been $75 but I had it inspected after the accident (and it passed - gotta love HI). We still don't have our car back, and our rental coverage ran out a while back.
Guy that was driving recklessly at excessive speed causing $10K in damages to our car, praise God no medical issues, had no legal repurcussions.
I will always remember the officer's words to my daughter ... I'm so sorry, but I have to issue you this citation.
