First Blood for the Max Today
« on: January 24, 2010, 05:11:15 PM »
Had my Super 16 357 mag Contender barrel reamed out to a 357 Max recently. I'm shooting Speer Hot-Cor 180 grain FN's over 20 grains of Lilgun. This deer season has about gone by without any meat in the freezer due to me not having a lot of time to hunt and when I do I haven't seen anything. I have a shooting bench at the edge of my front yard that overlooks the woods to the East of my home. Nice shooting lane that goes for about 75 yards or so. While watching the Colts and the Jets this afternoon I walked outside to smoke and saw 4 deer making their way toward the shooting lane. Walked in and got my max and set up on the bench. A few minutes later I picked out the biggest doe and at the shot I saw her go belly up in the scope. When I got to her I had a small entry wound but the exit wound was about 1 1/2 inches. I had wondered how these bullets would perform but now have no doubts they'll do just fine. This was the first anything I've shot with this Contender that wasn't paper.

I wish something wudda kept me away from the "ViQueens" and the "Chocolate City Saints" game!

I wish you hadn't even mentioned the Vikings-Saints game. The wrong team won that one.  >:(

Yeah I watched that one too. Saints finally get to go to the big dance.
