I keep hearing everybody freaking out about how Obama is the most anti-gun president ever, but you know, I've not seen or heard of one specific move that Obama has proposed towards restricting gun ownership. Yeah, he's a democrat, and yeah, democrats tend to be pretty weird about guns. Yeah, he gave Hillary a job, and I'm not too happy about that. But so far, I've not heard of one proposal in that direction. Everybody's collective panic sure dried up the ammo shelves, though. I heard some dingbat in the gun store today blaming "them" as in the dems, for the limited availability of primers. Might want to look in the mirror there, buddy, if you're one of the ones who's been stockpiling and hoarding. You guys might hate Obama, but the munitions and firearms manufacturers must be loving him.

Back when Clinton was around, he was supposed to be the worst ever, too; the black helicopters were supposed to be landing in our yards, and the black clad stormtroopers were supposed to be kicking in our doors and taking our firearms and raping our women. I totally bought into that back then; I bought a bunch of right wing newsletters and books at gun shows, stockpiled ammo, bought more guns, and generally became pretty paranoid and militant. But look! We all still have guns! I even still have some of the same ones I bought back then! So I think I'll pass on running out and doing the whole paranoid-about-the-stormtroopers thing this time around. When specific bad gun laws get proposed, I oppose them.

If you voted for BO I am not your "fellow". Please do not consider yourself in the class of outdoorsmen and firearms owners as myself and many others here.

You are so right about this. I've been thinking on and off about this all day as I go about my work. I can find lots of different venues where I can make jokes and disagree politically with people without becoming the subject of some Maoist purge or ideological purity test. I'll stay on here long enough to wrap up a trade that I'm in the middle of and leave positive feedback, but then I'll be on my way. There are plenty of gun owners and outdoorsmen out there who don't need me to think, believe and vote exactly like they do in order to have a civil conversation that doesn't degenerate into shouting and name calling. Obviously, this is not a very good place to find them. My mistake!

you make a valid point on ammo supplies ... $25 for a brick of .22s is insane. the hoopla about gun-grabbing libs is almost accomplishing their work for them, driving the costs up so high that we price ourselves out of shooting sports, hunting, etc. in many ways we're not as bright as we think we are.

i am not swayed by eloquent speech nor do i look down on those that can not rise to that level. it has nothing to do with their ideas or real honest abilities. i have laughed at bush and his classic stumbles many times yet it had nothing to do with his abilities.

obama on the other hand is not speaking his words only words designed and edited by others. at least bush in his own way tried to speak most times his own words and that led him to troubles.lol.

obama does not have the knowledge nor experiance to speak of the things he does they way he does. it has all been scripted for him and like it was mentioned he is held to a very tight script.

they do not want any mistake by him to upset their plans. that is why he took a telepromter to a kids school. thats just how much they are trying to control the message he spews out.

this man and the movement he represents is very dangerous to all of us. his tactics are very similar to other evil men that were responsible for millions upon millions of deaths in the last century.

During the time he was in the senate, he voted for and or supported every piece of anti gun legislation. His record speaks for itself both legislatively and what he wrote or said historically.

As far as you leaving GBO, I think that would be a bad decision. Just because some folks are attacking you in this thread, in no way should be a reason for you to leave. When we take positions here, those in opposition to your stand are likely to attack. You likely have way too much in common with people around here than you do in opposition with them. And those that attack you here, will likely be the same ones that will show support when they agree with you. If I left GBO after my first onslaught of attacks, I would have left many years ago. But because I'm as stubborn as a mule, I stick around because this is a great site with way too many great members. I take my hits and move on with the scars.

I think that comparing obama and clinton is comparing apples and oranges. Look up things that Obama has said about firearms and the second amendment. See where he has voted on these issues, hell see where he has voted on any issues, hes a radical leftist who wants to take money from people that have made it and give it to people that wont.( spread the wealth, piece of the Pie, etc) The only reason he has not come after the guns is that he wasnt there yet, government medical care was a big priority, That's why he was in a hurry, Ever have a salesman pressure you to buy something, if its such a good thing whats the hurry. It wasn't gonna take effect for four more years.

I totally realize that I did this to myself. I should have stayed away from making even a little joke about W, should have stayed completely out of any political thread at all, and definitely should have stayed away after the name calling started. I just felt like I should defend myself, but all I accomplished there was to open myself up to more attacks by people who had made up their minds about me the minute I joked about Bush. Believe me, labeling me as a leftist is pretty ironic; leftists won't have me either, because I don't march in lock step with them any more than I do with the radical right.

We can take a joke - We see Obama, Pelosi, and Reid on TV on a regular basis.
Why is it the RADICAL RIGHT?  Low taxes, personal property, Personal responsibility, free speach, free market,& good schools that teaches Math, science, history, grammer, economics, should not be a right thing.  It is a proper thing.

If you look at history most of the Left has been the Haters, racists, and are the ones who make personal attacks based on Gender, Looks, age, or race.
The abortion movement was founded by a bunch of rich white women that did not want to be over run by Black or Hispanic babies.  The welfare state was a movement by the Democrats to replace slavery and have the poor beholding to them.  The $ spent on the poor over the years has only increased the poor by offering hand outs and ruining the poor family by telling people they are not responsible for thier kids and you now have Baby Daddy's rather than fathers.  The small minded, the racists, the evil, and the communists have done a lot under the "for the good" to bring this country down.
Look at the comments of Reid, Bill, and Hillary if you think the left is trully color blind.
You really need to think of what or how you wnat this country to go and if you are voting Democrat because your father, grandfather, or someone else in the family that has passed away voted that way.  Remember JFK would be called a right wing nut job by the Media if he spouted his policies today.
