so it's agreed that nationalist pride and culture is the identity we should have, whether we be cowboys, indians or homesteaders/ranchers....

I see redhawks point though, people see him as "native american" and he's not really anything special by HIS identity but is pushed into that category by first sight/inspection so it's hard to just BE.  How about Red, White and Blue...

ps Teddy Roosevelt did/said a lot of motivated/patriotic things but also pushed imperialism HARD and that's part of why foreign cultures/people got admitted into our nation so fast that the PEOPLE didn't assimilate ideologically.

Actually, you'll find the term used in previous census data.  I encountered the word several times in the 1840 and 1850 census.  Idiot was the term for what we now classify as mentally challenged, retarted, or what ever the politically correct term is for those with such impairments.
