KY Whitetail Hunt Questions
« on: January 26, 2010, 05:48:33 AM »
Hi All,

Anybody ever hunt Double D Ranch, Nebo, KY?  Website indicates they have about 9,000 acres of farmland under contract.

Also, any suggestions on good places for public whitetail hunting in KY?

I now hunt Bambi in the shotgun only state of ohio and would like the chance to take a deer with a centerfire.

thanks

Try that for some info Beans, There is a lot of public land open for hunting, fishing, and camping. The Daniel Boone natl forest has over 700.000 acres in it and most of it is open to hunt. You can put in for the elk hunt also. Where ya at in Ohio? Are you close enuff to drive down and scout out some property?

Bob,

NW Ohio, about 200 miles from Covington.  I grew up in KY, went in the USN for 7 years then got out and went to U of L for 5 years.  My mom still lives in Louisville.

In college I made many trips to the Red River Gorge area for hicking and camping.  I may have a little hitch in my plans to hunt KY whitetails.  I am disabled, can walk okay but must have oxygen 24/7, so I hunt with a good friend.  He is younger and great shape as he is a professional firefighter.  It appears that do to budget problems he is going to be laid off tomorrow.  If that happens he is probably out on a KY trip and I would be too.

thanks for the link I will spend some time studying in case it works out for my friend to go with me.

You where on the Enterprise?  I spent a while on the California, CGN 36, in the late 70s.  Nuclear Machinest Mate

I had just been assigned to the Enterprise but never went aboard her before I retired in 94. I was in VF 103 at the time, Made my last cruise on the Saratoga, It was her last cruise also. I spent all my time on the east coast as a Aviation electricians mate.
