I've been reading all the posts about the omega, and not having seen one in real life, I have a question. If the 209 ignition is too hot, why not go back to a plain old #11, rather than all this hornett conversion stuff? Just wondering. Crunch

Too weak.
Fine by me but the firing mechanism is a PIN. They tell me, "it don't work that way, Underclocked."

What's the problem with the Omega ignition system? Can someone tell me which post this discussion is on? I'd like to see it.
Thanks.

There is no "problem".
209's came into play due to pellets, and aren't going away.

209's are also easier to handle, weatherproof and a lot more reliable. I certainly don't have any complaints, and wouldn't want to use #11 caps with loose powder or pellets if I had a choice.

Crunch I have an Omega and Oncore both in 50 cal. and I was getting flyers from both rifles with standard 209 primers. Now I shoot Remington 209-4 primers. The 209-4 primer is used to reload 410 shot shells and only has half the fire that a standard 209 primer has. Now my Omega averages 1 1/2" groups at 100yds. with out any flyers.

daddywpd,
#11 caps not a good choice in an in-line?
The White rifles seem to have some degree of success using them.
This week I am going to experiment with the Knight original disc #11 adapters in my Knight Disc Magnum. I will let everyone know the results.
I plan on testing in my 26" Knight Disc Magnum:
777 pellets
777 loose
Clean Shot FFFg
With:
220 grain Dead Centers
XTP 240
XTP 300
And:
Federal 209
CCI 209
#11 caps/Disc adapter

I don't remember saying they weren't a good choice - if you like them, use them. What I said was - I would much rather use 209's if I had the choice, and I do. I've had misfires and hangfires with percussion caps. I've never had a misfire or hangfire with a 209 primer.
