Question for the builders
« on: January 27, 2010, 03:56:18 AM »
I would guess that the keyless entry pad for a garage door opener qualifiy's as a communication device.

Any way to kick one of these up from the 310Mhz to 390Mhz range via Radio Shack parts such as a diode change or other?

All equipment is Chamberlain and my new opener installed last weekend is not compatible with the existing keypad. I can fix this by spending $37 on a new pad and I believe that it is the intent of that company to keep these accessories moving  >:(

Chamberlain makes it easy for the consumer to find the needed remote based on the color of the LEARN button of the actual unit. I was able to find three or four different colors while on their site which also listed the Mhz of the remote's. Consumer rip off I tell you as Chamberlain brags of being able to erase and reprogram existing codes for the vehical remotes and being able to have 10,000 different code possibility's for the keyless pad. I don't think that there was any need to be messing with the Mhz output cept for the $$ signs.

Edit: Purchased a new keypad just yesterday, got a good deal through Menards discount card on any item purchased and I also was able to return a couple of items that i did not need that were purchased back in Oct. Sure would have been fun to cut into that old card though and do some hot or cold soldering  :o ::) ;)
