Non-starter for Obama
« on: January 27, 2010, 05:24:48 AM »
It is being reported that job creation will be the focus of Obama's Sad State Of the Former Union speech tonight. Unless he's going to commit to creating a friendlier tax climate, this won't work. And government jobs don't count as job creation because they produce nothing.

Amen Questor.  The private sector pays for the public sector.  If the public sector gets too big, it crushes the private sector, and the downward spiral.  If he is a good Democrat and not a Communist or Socialist, he will take a page out of Kennedy's tax cuts which stimulated the economy in the 60's and early 70's until the Arab oil embargo.  Come to think of it, Reagan's tax cuts did the same until 9-11.  The Arab extremists have caused a lot of trouble.

My wife has a government job and she produces intelligent hard working kids out of dumber than stumps kids that their parents couldn't care less about because they prefer to smoke crack and get drunk. And, she does this even with Bush's F'ed up program "no kid left behind, so let’s hold back the intelligent hard working kids to the dumb-ass retards level" and try to get them all to graduate.  Some kids need to be left behind, they are holding the others back.

Then again, some of the teachers aren't worth a crap ether.

Just sayin'

Don't get me wrong the Kenyan isn't doing anything to help ether.
Government is too big and needs to be cut in half, and put them to work.

Swordfish:

Mrs. Questor is a teacher in public schools too. Most of the money is state money. The federal department of education has something like 40,000 employees and they really don't do anything of value.

There are a few jobs where the government can do it better than the private sector because it is inherently unprofitable work: education, defense, and police are the major ones. So my original point on productivity is flawed.

The kinds of jobs that might be created by the federal government today are just make work jobs. Even some of the teacher and police hirings of recent years were followed by teacher and police firings when the political winds changed.

Sorry. I obviously offended you.

I disagree with the scale of Federal meddling in the education process. It's basically a decent system, with most of the control being local. Things get messed up as control leaves the locality.

Here in sunny Minnesota schools are the biggest single tax burden, and the taxes to support them keep going up while the teacher salaries are alarmingly flat. Considering the level of dedication I see in some of the teachers it's a wonder that they stay with the job, except for the great benefit of a fabulous retirement package.

Questor,
You did not offend me, I'm just sticking up for my overworked wife as she struggles daily with the plate she is served by our infected government. She is a teacher who cares.
I read your posts and respect you for what I read in them. With your wife being a teacher you know what they have to deal with, so many worthless parents and kids following in the same footsteps, and teachers that have given up, or are worthless them selves.
