For those using Choates Stor-Arm forearms...
« on: January 27, 2010, 12:44:22 PM »
After seeing these on some of your shotguns, I HAD to buy a couple.  Since receiving them earlier this week, I'm having trouble with ideas of what to store in mine!  What do you put in yours?  I use Eagle Industries Velcro strap on shotshell carriers so I don't really need to fill 'em with shells.  Thanks for your ideas!

Great minds think alike. Maybe we could start a empty storearm club?

No doubt these are close to if not the best addition for a NE I've seen or tried, that empty space under there was causing sleep issues though.  Reckon I'll manage to survive either way.  I can take it, I CAN take it, I CAN......Argh!!!

Well, I have ammo in mine.  Its on a 45/410 so I have 45 colt in it along with the choke tube and wrench.  I have the tamer stock so 410 shells are in it.

I like it mostly for the quick takedown capability. I have a discreet case it fits in perfectly.

But I would put fishing tackle and matches in heavy Ziplocs for actual deployment.

ETA: on the standard comb stock, there is a hollow under the grip cap you can put stuff in also.

I have a few goodies. Whistle, small razor blade, small Gerber bottle-bag (for storing water), purification tabs, small flint (ferro rod), small LED light, snare wire, little bit of fishing gear, dryer lint. Probably a couple of other things I have forgot. All wrapped in press n' seal wrap and tinfoil.
Have lights? Thank a Lineman!

I have a 45/410 and store the choke / key and an assortment of rounds.  You have to pack everything tight or it will all rattle around.  I use a few small hand wipe packets, some paper toweling and zip-lock bags for that, which are all useful to bring along too.

I got mine for the "no tools" takedown and flat profile for a light.  But if a Bore-Snake style cleaning kit can be made to fit, it'll be in there.

I consider a multi blade folding knife to be a high priority assuming
I have the hollow stock to go along and it is filled with ammo.
Somewhere an ample supply of cord and matches and perhaps
heavy duty baggies to hold and purify water in.

I have heard somewhere on the board that too much heavy
stuff in the hollow forearm and the lug will break off of the
under barrel location.  ( considering lead shot to reduce
the recoil )
