Here's an interesting marketing scheme from GM
« on: January 27, 2010, 06:26:58 PM »
Here's part of the news story:

"General Motors said Wednesday it would give owners of Toyota cars and trucks 1,000 dollars or free financing if they buy one of the US firm's models.

A day after Toyota suspended sales of eight models in the United States due to accelerator problems, arch-rival GM raced into the breach with the offers.

The incentives are available through the end of February, said a spokesman for GM, which was overtaken as the world's largest automaker by Toyota in 2008. "

This seems to be out of touch with the fact that people inclined to buy a Toyota
a) Probably would never consider buying a GM under any circumstances
b) Are willing to pay a premium prices for what they believe to be a much better car
c) It is legitimate to ask where the money is coming from to pay for this marketing program. Since you and I are funding GM  and its unions now, it's only right to put this under scrutiny.

Gm can "chuck" there scheme where the sun don't shine. They are trying to pasify the American car buyer after making junk products for the last 10 years and sticking it to the buying public. They caused their own problems. >:(

I'm still waiting for my 1099 from the government showing interest on shares of GM they bought with my money. Then I want to report them to the sec for insider trading, fraud, embezzlement and extortion. I'll gladly settle out of court for fair market value of my shares at time of purchase.

I wonder if I could put that on an indefinite extension request to the IRS?

Dunno, Team Nelson, let us know how that turns out!  ;)

Its amusing if not sad that GM would offer a $1000.00 towards a purchase of one of their vehicles AND then knock your toyota trade down (prolly $2,000) Cause its defective!  I'll take a Toyota with a bad accelerator anyday, over an obamamobile

Look for the union label(read with a melody) Are they gonna give themselves a raise this year, or strike against themselves. As an "owner" I deserve to know.

   Yes; here's the news article.  http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.3bb1888ef1a1aa64be3cb69f704ec08b.fc1&show_article=1

       Do what they want, I won't be buying a "government motors" car anytime soon. Does anybody recall the cars made in the eastern, Communist block before the iron curtain came down ? I sure am not interested in patronizing outfits like the unions who cut a crooked deal with Obama, not only in the health care fiasco but in taking shareholder's portion of auto companies that the Obama administration seized and offered to them.  I don't make deals with devils.
     I presume they figure that we the taxpayers. should consider it an encouraging sign to see how GM (Government motors) is spending our hard-earned tax money.
   Although I am not a Volvo driver, I can recall a commercial they aired a few years ago, when rebates began in earnest.  It said (paraphrased),..... ;
                            " We make our cars good enough that we don't believe we should have to pay someone to buy them".

   I understand the defective assembly or part which is causing trouble with certain Toyota models was made by a supplier from Elkhart, Indiana. Surely, it will be worked out and the usual high quality vehicles by Toyota will be back in force.

GM, just another tennacle of the government, that paid perfectly healthy middle aged men to sit on their big butts.

  The marketing scheme is this;
      General Motors screws up royal.. then morphs to GOVERNMENT MOTORS....then enlists it's Socialist/Marxist talking heads in the government to start their  campaigns against the world's largest auto builder..and the one that got most of the $$$ from their ill-conceived "cash for clunkers" program.
