Not sure of the investment quality of the 1885 Browning 45-70, but I bought that same gun in 1985 as a shooter. It's a great gun, I don't load black power, but shoot only smokeless powders in mine. Lots of fun. One of these days I hope to put the funds together to go to South Dakota and arrange a bufflo hunt with it. I would advise you to check out some of the on-line auctions as to current resale priceing, but if you want a great gun in a great old caliber, two words come to mind, BUY IT!! :-D
