Swear words for a family forum
« on: January 29, 2010, 05:20:15 AM »
I just checked the weather. Was planning to go hunting tomorrow but it will be well below zero. Need some suitable swear words for a family forum.

How about:

Gosh blast it!
Dad gummit!

That's a start.

I've never liked the comic book @%*$# method because it doesn't seem witty enough.

Here's a log of great suggestions from people who responded (and a few others):
Dad burnit!
Gosh Darn It!
Oh fiddlesticks!
Oh beans!
Dagnabbit!
Shucks!
Dang Gummit!
Balderdash!
Dash it all!
Curses!
Blast!
Cracker crookin' feedbag for a hearse horse!
Oh! give me strength!
Oh please!
Safety first

And the obligatory Dad Burnit!

I guess this is subjective, but I don't find your suggestions particularly witty either...

I love  "Look out!...Don't step in that pile of Pelosi."

But I think "Obama you!" is more appropriate.

What Sarah Palin says seems to be acceptiable.

Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

My great aunt used to say Oh fiddlesticks when she dropped something.  Then when she got mad she would go around saying oh curses instead of actually saying a curse word. She was funny to me, but I was six or so at the time.

As a kid I used to say "oh beans!".

Had an 8th gr teacher that apparently at one time had a gutter mouth. She explained she learned to use the words "Shaving Cream" as a more acceptable alternative.

I've been known to use the "F bomb" when very upset, but I have made a deal with the wife to say "Friendly" instead. Now when I hit my thumb with the Hammer it is a "Friendly" hammer!

When Kids are abound I use Buckin ..
If for the hammer example Slim posted above -  I hit my thumb it's usually that "Buckin" nail driver bit me again.
I like "rackenjabafracken rabbit"  But there is no way I could ever remember it. Especially when I am in pain.

Tis a pretty shallow minded person who must resort to the use of swear words in public especially in polite company. Rather than try to figure out swear words that might be acceptable in this family oriented site how about learning to express yourselves minus swearing at all.

43 years ago I had a good friend teach me that blasphemy and/or obscenity was the most useles of methods to use as an Army NCO.  He called himself " a Texas boy" and for anything out of the ordanairy he used Umbriago trademarked by Jimmy Durante.
We hunted together at Ft Benning and met each others families later.  Last letter I got from him was after he stopped and went hunting pheasant with Dad before deployment.  42 years ago he earned a space on "The Wall" in Arlington"  Every other year our kids now grown and on thier own give me a set of plane tickets to Arlington with a stop in Texas to see Pep's dad, and family.  For whatever it's worth,

Umbriago
