Not a Ackley Improved, but Midwayusa sells Thompson Center Encore 1 in 10" Twist 15" Blue Barrel in 338-06 A-Square.

http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=490356

If you want the maximum have SSK Industries make you a 330-06 JDJ, which has a 60 degree shoulder, not the 40 degree shoulder of the Ackley Improved which give you even more powder room.

glad you posted about the 338-06 JDJ I loooked up on their site here what they say about the 06 case " The '06 JDJ calibers are highly modified 30-06 cases which generally produce higher velocities than their equivalent belted magnum counterparts in the shorter pistol barrels. We call them Magnum Beaters."  Interesting

You guys are right....honestly I had a 35-06 JDJ and it was nice. I sold it to an accomplished silhouette shooter years ago.

Many years ago, in the '80's I owned a 338-06AI. I only shot it at the gun range, never got to hunt with it though. I don't have any "gun notes" saved but do rememebr it was the most accurate rifle I ever shot. I enjoyed it a lot. I got strapped for money and sold it to my buddy. I highly recommed one, you won't regret it at all.

I've had two in rifles...  Loaded to the same pressure levels at the std. .338-06, they didn't gain much over the std .338-06, as they just don't pick up that more powder capacity....i wouldn't build another.  I'd just build the std. .338-06.
