Hi everyone.Long time no post.I have aquired an old Topper 158 with an AJ prefix. Will the choate survivor stockset work on this model?I looked in the FAQ's section and didn't find an answer. From what I read there I believe it says this topper was made in 1974.Thanks!

I have an old Topper barrel and it takes a different screw than the survivor thumb screw. The thread pitch is different. I'm sure you could use the forearm itself but the screw might be a different story. I think the stock should bolt right on.

I had an M158 30-30(1972 AJ), tried a modern stock on it, it didn't fit right, the angle of the stock was slightly different and left a slight gap.

Tim,

Is the screw for the forearm different? The one on my Topper barrel has a different pitch.

The survivor buttstock SHOULD fit but the only way to be sure is to try one, 90%+ chance it will fit. When you buy a Survivor stock set from Choate it comes with 2 special "Storarm forearm" screws, to fit both the old and the new thread pitch. If you call Choate you can get whichever screw you need.....<><....:)

Looks like Andy answered that for ya, that's good cuz I didn't know the answer on the forend, mine had a ¼-20 attachment screw, some older barrels use a ¼-28 fine thread.  I didn't like the Survivor stock and got rid of mine after I tried it on my Hornet, I traded it for a good stock!!  ;D
