Survivor forend not fitting right?
« on: January 30, 2010, 05:45:13 PM »
I bought an extra survivor forend to put on my pardner 410.  It lines up perfectly and attaches fine.  But when I break open the gun and let the barrel hang fully open, the barrel is very loose and wobbly and there is alot of side to side movement.  With the factory wood forend, there is zero play in the barrel when opened.

I know its not the gun because the same thing happens when I try to use the survivor forend on my 20 gauge barrel or sportster .17hmr.

Has anyone else noticed this?  Is there a way to fix it?

Mine both do the same thing. As long as they lock-up tight when closed, that is all I care about. I think it has to do with the fact that the Survivor is plastic where it meets the receiver, and a regular stock is normally metal.
Have lights? Thank a Lineman!

I had the same problem with my nephew's survivor forearm. I used 2 part plastic epoxy to fill the space between the frame and forearm. The stuff I used is made by Permatex and it's called Permaoxy. It's a 2 part stick that you have to knead into a ball. I made up a ball of it and stuck it to the forearm where it meets the frame. I put bore butter on the frame so it wouldn't stick then I put the forearm on the gun and tightened it up. All the excess epoxy squeezed out and I wiped it off before it set up. I let the gun set for about an hour then took it apart. I used some fine sandpaper to clean up the edges and make it look good.
That's all there was to it. Now it's a perfect fit with no slop at all.
