Its happening to me again???
« on: November 04, 2003, 09:11:04 AM »
Lastyear I'm going home from fishing at night and in the dark I see 4 little eyes at the edge of the road looking at me.  Yes two little kittens almost starved to death the male got hit by a car but the female I still have is stunted growth wise(small) from not eating when she was small.  Today i'm on my way to the same spot fishing and at the edge of the road two little heads pop up out of the leaves on the ground looking at me again same spot.  I picked up two more orfans cute little charcoal gray kittens and the smallest i have ever seen.  They were born in the wilds and have no clue about food.   They are skin and bones but seem to be really healthy.   I'm a sucker for orfans!!!!  I guess someone has to help them out wether its dogs or cats I end up with them.   I guess GOD knows I will take care of them.   I have to catch some bass now to feed them for sure!!!                                                                 BigBill

Ever come home with more than you left with????  Am i the only one???

During the summer lastyear I got a free rotweiller puppy another homeless dog now she is 110lbs and still growing the vet said maybe 125?? Thank god she is really friendly I wouldn't want to see a dog that big mean.

One night in the dark I stopped to pickup a baby raccoon I thought it was a kitten too.

An old lady gave me a rottie a few years ago that her grandson had left her with.  They are great dogs, you just have to be careful with them.

There's Fishing and then there's Bass Fishing

Yes I know they have two personalities i've never seen this get mad or mean yet.   She gets along with my cats and my other Lab.  Funny my Lab is mean and the rottie is nice the two dogs switched roles.   BigBill

I have even found puppies dumped on the side of the road out in the middle of no where the minute I got them home all my neighbors gave them homes.  Finding kittens dump in the woods seems to be more common I don't know why they just don't take them to the dog pound they won't kill them here they find homes for everything. (the misses works for the town)  Have you pet neutered/spaded so it don't happen? The last kittens I found were under fed so bad the female has a stunted growth she is small and has a bad heart too.  I have been feeding her fresh liver/beef/pork and she is doing better she is growing a litte bigger now.  We I'm at my limit on pets now 2 dogs and 5 cats thats it.  Years ago I had problems with rats in my wood pile there is an old farm near me and I had 50 cords of firewood so they moved in.  After trying to get rid of them it was easier to feed cats and let them do it.  Some mornings are really bad the body count is high between mice/moles and sometimes a rat but not many now.  It sure worked and only cost cat food.   I guess thats why we see so many cats on farms.                    BigBill

Bill don't feel bad because you're not the only sucker out there.  My wife's little Welsh Corky came to us because it answered the varmint call I was using one evening.  Trying for coyotes and this little 9 month old pup(Vet. put it's age at 9 months) comes up out of a little creek.  It came within 30 feet of us and the wife called to it.  Darn thing was half starved and came right to us when the wife offered it a little bite of her sandwich.  That was eight years ago and he is the wife's dog.  When the wife is home he won't get more then 10 feet from her.  I've brought to many strays home and will do so again.  Lawdog
Gary aka Lawdog is now deceased. He passed away on Jan. 12, 2006. RIP Lawdog. We miss you.

Folks, if you haven't seen it ya'll should go see 'Cats'.  It's a stage play and it breaks your heart every time.  It always reminds me, somehow, of the people like all of you who pick up strays and bring them home.  That's how I got my first 3 cats.  Mikey.

All 5 of my cats 4 were dumped orphans and one was born in a farm cornfield, my dogs were given to me as pups too a lab who thinks its a rottie and a rottie who thinks its a lab??  The one you think is mean is nice and the one who is always nice is mean go figure?  The rottie the guy didn't want it when she was 60lbs now she is 120lbs.  Needless to say any pets I find now have to go to the pound our pound doesn't kill the pets they find everything homes.                                BigBill
