Coyote like humans come in a variety of personalities and dispositions. Some coyotes are asleep in the trap, some just cower in a trap, some just sit looking curious or stupid and others bark, howl, growl, snarl, etc. I the noisy agressive ones are outnumbered by the quiet variety.

I get few sounds other than barks, and howls- and those are rare-

maybe 10 % give a short bark or two, and maybe 5% give you that head back howl-

I look at the howls as a bonus- and no pattern as to sex, age.....trappnman

I have caught a lot of coyotes over the years within a few minutes of setting traps and still within hearing distance. Many times I hear barking and yipping and returned to harvest my catch. This has happened so many times that perhaps a majority of coyotes bark right at first when the trap spring on them but most settle down after a bit.
