Ever see anything like this?
« on: January 31, 2010, 03:11:32 PM »
A number of summers ago, went to Arizona to do some sightseeing and prospecting. Went down to Jerome, east of Sedona, and headed back up north via an old dirt road that ran thru an Indian Reservation, and went north to Williams. About half way between Jerome and Williams, we were driving past the Aquarius Mts, which were on our left. It was getting on the dark side of dusk, when suddenly, we spot a bright orange light headed south slightly off to our left side, about 2500 to 3000 ft up. This light took a curving dive down and hit the side of the mountain, about 1/2 a mile across the desert from where we were. It hit about 400 feet up the slope, then started sliding down still glowing bright orange. We thought we just witnessed a plane or helicopter crash, stopped, jumped out of the truck and started running over towards the site. The light sat glowing at the bottom of the slope, and as we got closer, it suddenly lifted off , went straight up to the level we had first seen it, then made a bee-line headed south again. This thing made no sound, and to this day, I still don't think we can make any type of craft that can act like that! I thought I saw something like that back in about 1979 on my way back to Texas from Oklahoma. My ex-wife explained the next day, it was the bouncer of the bar we were in, running from my car, with a flash light with one of those orange cones on. ;D

Ok, then! Got a friend in this neck of the woods who claims to be on the trail of a family of Sasquatch, and feels that every time he is in their area, they have been watching him while he is looking for signs of them. I have looked at a lot the BF sites here on Greybeard Forums, and have never seen any published works by any serious researchers. They may be here, but I have a feeling that they don't want to get involved with the slams, slings and arrows. However, that said, I have been and am still in contact with a researcher/scientist who has written a very good book of his study, worldwide, of the subject. I will write to him and see if he wants to get involved with this bunch of folks. I'm also looking for postings of actual physical evidence folks have observed, especially photos. I personally have seen a footprint that was of a bare right foot, about 16 inches long, and about 7 inches wide at it's widest. It was in semi rocky soil, right after a rain, and wet mud was still oozing into the print. Since my friend and I were the only two humans out in this area, and I know he was with me cause we were driving past and had just stopped to look at a broken tree, neither one of us made this print. In this area, there are many small trees, about 10 to 12 feet tall, with their tops broken off about 6 feet above the ground. These trees are about 3 or more inches in diameter at the point they are broken. Some of the tops are still attached, just snapped, and some are torn off and dropped nearby. Anyway, such as it is! This area is pretty rugged, with steep slopes, boulders, lots of trees, and a few other features that make it feel like a likely spot. There is more to tell, but I'll wait to see what reaction this brings! Night all....BoomLover

Where I hunt I see lots of trees with the tops broken about 10 feet up, most are just broken over, I just always layed it off to the snow.  Larry

Thought so for a minute too, however, this area is only about 7 to 8 miles from the Coast, in the Pacific Coast Range...too low in elevation to get much snow, let alone enough to snap 3"+ diameter trees off like matchsticks. Especially since this also happened to occur last fall, when all we had for bad weather was rain. Thought of wind, too, but trees haphazard, not uniform like a wind shear.  Lots of these are like you describe, broken over, but a number were snapped and thrown off several feet away. BoomLover

Bears have known to break off trees, to mark territory to other bears. The higher up the break, the bigger the bear. I'm not adverse to the possibility of a "bigfoot." I've had a few "not sure" experiences, and have heard some LOUD weird vocaliztions up around Lava Mountain near Dubois, WY, one of my stomping grounds. Not like a cat, been around big cats, but more like a howling monkey. I heard far more than my share of bear and grizz vocals, and wasn't at all like them. I'd like to hear more. As to the weird lights you described, no, I've never seen anything like that.

Bearmgc, I'll go a little further about this area, and why we think this "could" be a BF area. In addition to the footprint, and the snapped off trees. there is a small hollow up there that looks and feels like a sleeping den. Now, bear are known to be in mountains around here, but this hollow is a bit different, in that leaves and small branches have been piled up on several ledges, making it look like a den or "bedroom". This sounds funny, but in this particular area, this stuff would have to be brought in as none of the leaves, branches or small brush can get in there on their own, meaning, not naturally dropped or blew in from wind. This is right beside a depression, for lack of anything better to call it, which water can collect, fill up, and run out a natural hole in the rock about the size of a basketball. If someone were describing this to me, I'd think "Yeah, sure!", but it's one of those spots that when you see it, you know it didn't happen that way by accident. We are going to do a bit more exploring there, in full daylight, and well armed, just in case! My friend has a couple of other anomaly's about this area, but I'll talk to him before I say more. I will say that I have seen one other spot like this, up in the Cascades, near Silver Creek Falls State Park. There used to be a Boy Scout camp up there, called Davidson's Ranch. We had a summer outing there many years ago, and a bunch of us went exploring in the woods. We came across a small cabin beside a ravine, and it was in poor shape, almost ready to tumble down. The back jutted out over the ravine about 4 feet, propped up by a couple of poles. In that underhang, was another nest or den, like what I described before. Only, being young and dumb, we climbed down to investigate. First thing we noticed was an overwhelming smell like a combination of raw sewage and something so "tangy" for lack of a better word, that stung our eyes, burned our noses and throats, and made you actually want to stop breathing, and just get out of there! Which we did! I've smelled fresh "cat" urine, and fresh skunk , but never anything that made you involuntarily jerk back and turn away like that. As we were hightailing out of there, from the other side of the ravine, sounding about 1/2 a block away,( we were city boys then!) was a really loud, high pitched, sound, not really a roar, and not a big cat scream, but maybe something like a combination of the two. We ran almost all the way back to camp, and never told anyone else about what we had seen or heard for many years! I have never gone back there, but I'd like to see if I could find it again. Not trying to discourage your posting here which is welcome but the stories of this place would be a really nice addition to the Bigfoot Study forums we set up just to talk about Bigfoot. At first it got some good traffic but then it became a feud ground for a small group of folks who kinda ruined it for everyone. I've now ended that feud there and am trying to get folks to use it again.
