value of 270 weatherby rounds?

I came into what I believe to be 97 rounds of 130 gr spirepoint 270 weatherby
50 rounds of 150 all repackaged in the plastic reusable cases - I believe they are factory...

then there is another box of 20 100 gr I believe reloads and then 10 more factory loads

The ones marked factory have the green seal over the primers

I know the brass is all weatherby and the bulletts have value...

So what would a fair price be to ask for such?



I bought a bunch of gear from a lady who's husband used to shoot and reload... I know he packed other new rounds in the plastic boxes for storage/shooting and have not had issues with the stuff I shot that I own guns for.

So where would ya start? How would you sell them?

The real bad part is I got a bunch of loose factory .38 super xtp I think that makes me want to buy a .38 super to shoot it in

If the previous owner reloaded, I would not take any bets that the 97 rounds are factory.  Given the cost of Weatherby ammo, I'd be betting the other direction.


Also, I would not sell any loaded ammo of an indeterminate source.  Pull the bullets, de-cap the brass, dispose of the powder and primers, sell the brass and bullets.

I reload for my Weatherby 300 mag and was at the gun shop one day when my budy who owns the shop was telling me he bought out a dealer going out of buissness ! Any way I bought 5 boxex of new ammo at 20 bucks a box (in the grain I shoot  ) so it happens !

Without proof positive they are factory I'd assume them to be reloads. I would not sell them nor would I buy such as ammo but only as components. I've seen .270 and 7mm Weatherby brass listed here in the past and it usually goes for less than a buck a case if once fired. If more than once fired I'd be leery of it at all as there is no way to be sure just how many times it has been fired or at what pressure levels.

Known once fired (cuz you fired it yourself) brass like this normally goes for around $15 per box of 20 and I've picked them up at that shipped. The primary problem with getting more is the limited demand for them.

I do want to sell them and am open to offers... The sealant on the FAC marked ones match all the weatherby rnds I have seen as factory I am tempted to buy a rifle for them but I need to streamline a bit

I would also consider them as components only, since you are not 100% sure.

If anyone bought them, they would pull the bullets, dump the powder and pop the primers.  If you pull the bullets then you can be certain if they are factory new brass or reloads.

The brass if new is worth something, but the bullets are just Hornady Interlocks, not anything premium.
