Seems to me that there was a thread a long time ago (like maybe 2 or 3 years) where it was mentioned that not all oxygen tanks were created equal....  they were measuring by circumference to find the right one.

The correct tank is listed in the references sticky.

Thanks fellows for the help, My 2 tanks  mike at 9 in.on OD,looks like  29 1/2 cirm,The balls mikes 8.563 in cold state, This gives about 1/4 in walls, My tanks dont have the markings as DD stated, one is a Carbon dioxide tank. and other is oxg. tank. 58 in. long without the valve, Hope to cut soon, Got 17 balls now,If they dont fit I will grind the side down to fit. Have you ever had loose bowling balls in your trunk living in a town full of hills,

Grind what?

Just keep looking for the right size tank.  I don think either one you have will fit unless it has those markings.  Just keep looking.

Having limited resources in time ( it has been 5 years I've been looking ) I think I'll build a rod to go through the BB, anchor one end to a sabot (to keep the azimuth of the BB aligned to the bore) and then turn them down around a band.

If the tanks are clean (Not much paint or dirt build up) and the tape measure is 100% tight all the way around. Then a measurement of 29.5 inches around. Would be a good indication you have the right tank. But this is the time to control the addiction. Out of sight. Out of mind. Send me the tanks.
