We have a State now that does not require permits of any kind to carry (Vermont), I don't recall that State having problems. They do have background checks of course for buying them in the first place. Far as I know the people of Vermont keep their laws like they are because they seem to work just fine.
Neither the Second Amendment or the government grants the right to carry/have guns, the second amendment points out you already had that right.
I have never really felt the need to impress the anti's with classes, or regulations, but there are a lot of people who feel the need to do just that, and out of that always comes more regulations to make everyone on both sides feel good I guess. But make no mistake...it's lack of freedom if a person can't buy a firearm and carry it without paying a bunch of money for classes and permits, that they likely won't remember very long, or help them much if they are not commited to it. I don't see non-criminals as a threat either way, with some class, or without. Seems to me a background check to see if you can own a gun is all we would need.
Anytime a State can lose some regulations on guns, good for them. We just dropped some regulations here in Michigan, concerning those little green cards they call "safety inspection" for each handgun you owned, which was really not needed. We also just passed a law that says if I have a permit to carry, it means I can have someone elses gun with me if I want, does not have to be mine. No more paper work with our pistols here is needed, just a carry permit if your concealing it. We buy our rights here yet...100+ bucks for the class, and 105 bucks for the permit every 5 years to carry...don't let them fool you, our regulations are just to make money for the state, not to make people experts on carrying and shooting. They have to do that on their own.
Let's see, a few more regulations dumped, I might start to feel more free here.
