209 primer's
« on: February 02, 2010, 05:26:39 PM »
I bought a  50 Cal. rifle a  while back and was reading up on how to load it and everything else. My question is just how safe is it to put the primer on before you put the ram rod down the barrel tgo pack everything down? Can the primer be set off by the ramming action? Is there another way to load it?

NEVER prime your rifle before loading the powder/projectile.

It's perfectly OK if you are SUICIDAL.

PRIMER GOES LAST, JUST BEFORE FIRING.

I actually have a primer holder which i use when hunting. I load and un-load the rifle by removing the primer, say when climbing trees, etc.

Did you read your instruction manual? don't know what brand rifle you bought but we have own T/C and knights and in the instruction manuals and dvd's they clearly state not to prime your weapon "prior" to loadin it with powder and bullet.if you were not supplied with either a manual or dvd,i strongly suggest you call and ask for them before you fire the weapon.especially if this is your first BP rifle!
