Weirdest pets?
« on: February 02, 2010, 06:03:33 PM »
I guess I'd have to say the weirdest pet I've encountered was a diapered chimpanzee that fell in love with me. Couldn't leave me alone. Cute little critter.

I wouldn't call the several thousand garter snakes that lived in the base of my old mango tree pets, but when the tree came down and the snakes went slithering all over the place it sure got the neighbors' attention in a hurry!

Then one guy owned an electric eel. Seems like changing the water in the aquarium would have been a challenge. But he had pirhanas in another tank, so I guess that kept his reflexes sharp.

I can't say that I've ever known anyone with a pet king cobra. I've seen them handled by professionals. I'm sure somebody has a bunch of pet cobras here in the US.

Most hideous pet was a gargoyle-like "Mexican Hairless", a dog breed apparently bred for visual shock value.

I think no pets is weirder than weird pets, with a few exceptions. I knew a guy who kept foxes in cages, that were viscious, even to him. But he was weird, his kids were weird, his place was weird. He moved back to Utah. I was relieved. No offense meant, but I was relieved.

My oldest son had a pet rock that he drug around for a good six months.  It had to be fed dirt and water to "grow".  Do you guys know how hard it was to find rocks that looked similar enough but just a little bit bigger to trick a five year old.  ;)  I got tired of giving his pet rock a bath and broke down and got them a dog.  ;D  If that isn't weird I don't know what is.

My wife has two indoor/ outdoor pot bellied pigs . May not be overly weird but if you told me when I grew up I would marry a women who would have two pot bellied pigs as pets I would have to share my woodstove with I'd say you were nuts at the time.

Weirdest pet I ever saw was an enormously huge constrictor snake named Zeus over 12 foot . I just could never see owning a snake as a pet. What do you do with a snake take 'em for a drag around the block?

when I was a kid I had a skunk for 3 days till my dad found out . Skunk went bye-bye

A Tiger Osacr, a fish. It would eat bugs from my fingers. It would play push war against my finger but i had to let it win or it would go to a corner and sulk and lose it's color. When I walked into the room it would recognize my steps and get excited and swim back and forth at the front of the tank.

The weird thing was learning how much personality and intelligence a fish can have. A red tail shark in the same tank would swim to the front until I made eye contact then it would go back to it's uaual routine.

When the Oscar died I felt a loss. eddie
