THIS IS NOT A RANT
« on: February 02, 2010, 11:03:48 PM »
I enjoy these forums---all of them---they offer insight.
I enjoy folks asking questions and coffee talking about them.
I have found that folks, who are serious, want just about the same information as the rest of us.
When I knew nothing--still don't, in reality--about reloading, and I had a bunch of questions--I found it easier to get many/most of my questions answered--in my leisure-- from the bone piles and library of previous post in the reloading forum.
I spent hours reading comments and arguements about topics I was seeking information on.
It was all good and timely.
Then when I had looked thru this bone yard and still had some questions I asked them.
I certainly am not requesting that the same questions NOT be asked over but I am suggesting that the answers might just already be there.
Do not let this little piece deter you from postin ANY question.

Well said, BUT.
With how fast some of these posts turn from A to Z  and how your question is not exactly the same as the one some other guy asked...
I find it easier to just ask the question I have on opinion.  What do you think questions.
Technical data is technical data and the main thread on the subject is a great place to start looking for your answer.

I seldom ever ask a question on a forum because it's just too simple to look up an answer. But, researching for answers is part of the fun for me.

Some folks don't like having to look up or do research for answers. In the case of a newcomer to our beloved sport, pastime, passion, I'd rather see guys like you William ;) give them a good, quick, honest answer, even if you have provided that same answer 5,987,634 times in the past, especially if it seals the deal of the newcomer becoming a full time member of our sport and passion. Lets make it easy for them to join us. In the end they'll be looking up stuff themselves and at the same time will be enjoying the older threads.

Sometimes when I want an answer to a question and don't want to wait for someone to come on line I will look back and see if there is a topic that may help.
It does not mean I won't ask for a more difinitive answer and i am NOT suggesting not to ask---
Like with the reloading---the bone pile proved to be a valuable source of research.

Sometimes I'll look up a question I have but most often I don't  The reason being is because what a person posted a year ago to a question may not be his/her opinion today due to more experience, different products available or further testing which changed their answer.  Besides, a lot of search engines are just plain lousy and load up the screen with junk not even related to the question.

I will go back and look, but there are times one can't find what they are looking for.  I am somewhat "computer challanged" and find the search feature frustrating most of the time, it doesn't get me to what I'm looking for. :P  By the way, does everyone know that "reboot" doesn't involve your feet? ???  I had to replace 3 monitors before someone told me. :-[  DP

I go back and re-read my own post sometimes. It is a real eye opener. Seems we see ourownselves cahnging stances before our very own eyes. We do change after all.
I like to read what has been said on topics from folks that used too be here.
I like too see if opinions on a subject have changed.
I like reading history and this is history and at the same time can be a source of answers from folks that I trust, have trusted and people I consider to be reliable.
Some folks have taken the advice wrong.
It is just another means to the same ends we are working towards.
