91/30 russian/finnish???

I was cleaning out the safe today giving my puppies a breath of fresh air and happen to notice again how nice the 91/30's/$79 I got from Samco are their a great buy the bluing is excellent the stocks have hardley any marks on them and they cleanup really nice for the price you can't find a better buy. and their marked russian/finnish so their history can't be disputed the proof is there.  Its the luck of the draw some have russian stocks w/dog slings, some have finnish fat stocks w/steel sling loops both look great after some murphys wood soap they look new. And its affordable!!!!

Big Bill,
Remember, there are dumbies like me who haven't the foggiest idea what you're talking about......So lets get a little description on what this 91/30 Russian/Finnish gun looks like, and caliber, please.  Is it a bolt action, or semi-auto gas operated, etc?  Does it look like those SKS's, is it one of those fold-ups, or can it compare to a Swede?

Have you taken this Mosin out to the range and touched her off?  I'm wondering how she fairs in the accuracy dept.?  Does yours look like the one in Samco's photo example.  Nice grain in the wood, but I don'i care for the shape with that "Bass Belly" stock.

On the 6 I bought 3 have "fat" finnish stocks w/steel sling loops and 3 have skinny russian 91/30 orginal stocks w/dog collar slings. I haven't touched any off yet but all the bores look good. The wood grain on the stocks is excellent I'll have to send you an email home with pictures when I get a chance to. These are nice rifles at a cheap price. I ended up with 6 because I wanted twins one to scope and each one was different meaning stocks/ manufacturer(izzy/tula) so i just kept on ordering.                                                     BigBill

Cornering the market, BigBill?  I've got five Mosins myself:
M91 dated 1916 with Tsarist eagle and Arshin sights.
M91/30 Serbian dated 1943.
M39 Finnish dated 1944.
M44 Russian carbine with the folding bayonet - unissued & beautiful!  1946.
T53 Chinese carbine (unfortunately bubba'd and cut down).

The short carbines make one heckuva big blast!  Kick like mules, too.  Decently accurate for being so short.
The Finn isn't as accurate as it should be - a prior owner let the bore get pitted.  It's so pretty in it's tiger-striped stock, I won't let it go unless I find one just as pretty with a good bore.
The M91 and M91/30 are both great shooters.

Take your babies out and let 'em roar!  Just clean 'em real good after - that ammo is sure corrosive.

Don't just clean'em good,use soap & water on the bore,then lightly oil the bore. In 3 days check the bore,if it looks dusty,soap & water for the bore again. Those salts have to be gotten out of the bore.  Just my .02 . :-)

I use "GI Rifle Bore Cleaner" and "GI Weapons Oil" I buy from colemans surplus.com they have the best prices around on this great bore cleaner its good for cleaning the cosmoline off too. I have never had a bore go bad yet I flush them good till their squeeky clean.       BigBill :D
