RCBS Kit
« on: February 03, 2010, 07:10:11 AM »
I am thinking of getting into reloading
I can buy the RCBS Supreme Master kit at Cabelas for $329
i Can buy same kit from my favorite gun shop for $389 they where in the
comercial reloading bus. and custom guns, which lead to the gun shop.
They have told me several times that if i bought from them they would
give me all the tech support i wanted.
Where would you buy.

Site sponsor Midsouth myself if I couldn't buy it locally reasonably priced, they have the Supreme kit for $310 plus shipping, RCBS has excellent tech support, of course it doesn't usually hurt to buy from the LGS.  ;) I just bought a Leupold scope from them for over $40 less than anyone else.  ;D

I understand, but i can't walk in Midsouth and say hey bud what is this and
why doesn't work. I might get one of the "outfitters" at Cabelas to show me how to but i doubt it. :(

Gee whiz.....Cabelas with maybe 10 folks with experience that can help....if you wait in line......The local gun shop with 1 or 2 experienced reloaders opened 9-5.... or GRAYBEARDOUTDOORS with several HUNDRED reloaders ready and willing to help 24/7.

I would buy the kit where ever you can buy it cheapest.  Use the savings to buy dies, bullets, powder, primers, etc.  If you have problems or need help, all you have to do is ask.

That's alot of extra jing for advise. They sell those kits on e-bay too. They go 299 at one local shop.

Most of the stuff is straight forward in it's operation, there are on-line videos from suppliers as well as a bunch from individuals.
And, there is here and other "handloader" forums that have near 24 hr response with a wealth of serious, devoted members that are willing to share a vast amount of knowledge and experiance.

You'll need componats,,brass, bullets, powder, primers,,,those are all things you can get locally and then recieve their advise/support.

Then consider if there are 2 guy's at the local shop,,you'll likley get 2 opinions. Yes, the is a right way and saftey protocol to be followed whilst loading, but each guy develops his own technique/style that works for him and his goals.
It's a good idea to ask 10 and get 8 similar answers, than ask one and get HIS way or forget it! Know what I mean? Most of my questions get answered with; "Well, it's up to you,,but this is what I do,,,"

I second what Steve said.

1st thing I did was go to the local Library and checked out 1 book, I read it cover to cover, then got another and read it,,then read
found elsewhere

theres enough internet support that you should feel like you have to pay more to get support. Id go to my dealer and tell him the price you can get it for. Im sure he got it cheaper then you can purchase it so selling it at the same price would still give him a profit. Even if you offer him 10 bucks more then the internet price to help the local economy
