For hunting load in all big bore rounds I like a max. charge of Win. 296 or H-110. I have gotten excellant accuracy in all guns I have tried this in from .357 mag. to the 500 S&W, including the .454.

Well to be quite honest, I have not found a need for anything bigger than the 265gr wide flat nose gas check from Cast Performance,
http://www.castperformance.com/Detail.bok?no=18

It will shoot lengthwise through a 200# feral hog with only the starting load they recommended. This is fine with me as it shoot very nicely from my Ragin Bull. Groups at 25yds are around 2" or less depending on how well I am on that day.

Give them a ring and ask about their data, they are a great bunch of folks. There is a light load for this bullet listed using Trail Boss on the Hodgdon site, but the one I am using is with their recommended start load of 296.

probably my most used 454 load is 28 grains of 110 and a cci 350 with a 300. Its stout but not a max load. For plinking try about any bullet with 10-12 grains of unique. Now that hunting load my be borderline sticky for extraction in a ruger. I shoot it in a FA gun. If it is back it off a grain and it should be fine.
