FN/Mark X mauser trigger adjustment creep/safety

I tried to adjust the trigger on a FN Mauser action with trigger safety - same as a Mark X as is on the Rem 798. I get it set just fine at 3 pounds and no creep and the safety will not engage. Back out the sear engagement and the safety will engage - meaning move back and forth and work, but then I have creep back in the trigger. Now this is the same results with my Howa's, but this is worse and not acceptable. Never had that problem with a Rem 700. Any ideas on what to grind on in the trigger mechanism to solve this? I figured I would play with it and if I break it or can't get the creep out I will just buy a Timney. Thanks.

CIG: just buy the Timney, or a Bold.

I like to play. After reading a whole lot more on the web about this and down loading a lot more schematics I pulled this Remington 798 apart again. With the bolt cocked and safety off I set the poundage at 3 pounds. Front of trigger top screw backing it out to lessen weight. Then back of trigger turned in until the sear released. Backed it out a quarter turn. Checked for over travel and weight and it was good. Problem is safety will not engage. The screw in the front attached to the trigger needs to be adjusted - below poundage screw. I played with that until both the safety would freely move and it would engage properly. Nail polished the nuts in place once tightened. Slammed it on the butt several times and slammed the bolt home several times to see that it holds. Seems pretty simply now. Just ordered a Jard at 12 OZ for my Mark X. You can't get these down below 2 pounds and it wouldn't be safe to do so anyway. Just thought I would share what worked for me.

See my posts here under "my first rifle", Maybe some one will answer ,or Brownells will, and I can cure my 20 year old problem so I dare to carry my 257 with a round in the chamber with anyone else within earshot.
Remington please take note.
