The media is full of personalities on both sides of issues that get paid according to their talent. If there is some of this talent representing how you might feel, your probably better off having that not having that, simply because people tend to use media to form an opinion.
Glen Beck is talented yes, he is an entertainer as well, but there are some things he does well. He can get up in front of a crowd of people and draw things out on a chart, or map, and seems to know history, and he also seems to have been able to investigate things using reliable sources. After reading one of his books, and watching him from time to time on his show, I have decided it is good to have him there. Would like to see school teachers take so much time to explain things to people. He sure is not beholden to any party, can't fault him there. If he can still use capitialism to make money with his talent...good....others can too. Should he put in hours and hours of work to prepare for radio shows and tv appearances for free? What's that, 80 hrs of work per week I would imagine? So if he did it all for free it would make some people happy, I would not do it for free either, that's a ton of work, and he has been hired to make a decent show. Since he is a free man like the rest of us to use talent to make money I have no problem with getting paid well for that much work. He does give a lot to charity, more than those who oppose his views, so you can't say he's stingy either really.
Maybe there are lot's of people out there who have the talent to represent issues for some of us, but how do you pull them away from making enough money to live on and ask them to put in 60-80 hrs per week for free? Do they have to do it for free to be worthy? I say no...my time is worth something too.
I want profits for my talent too, I would not work as hard as Glen Beck for free to please anyone....he puts in way more hours than I would for the people who hired him. As far as trusting him? Trust him with what? He is in charge of nothing and can't affect any of us, all I do is listen to what he has to say and sometimes I find history very interesting to. If I don't trust what he is saying I can look it up, or stop listening any time. I'm not sure I have to trust him with anything and can still like his afternoon tv shows sometimes.
Someone mentioned Hannity...now there is someone who I agree with most times sure, but simply can't stand, he just plain get's on my nerves, at least his radio show does, I often turn the dial and mutter under my breath "enough already, shut up".....so there ya have it. Someone who represents some of my views but I'm sick of the constant ranting on the same things every day. He puts in gobs of hours as well for radio and TV shows.
I like Glen Beck, I'm glad he has a voice and the talent to get his views to people, and I like the way he draws it all out for people to see.
I don't have to trust him with anything much, but I'm sure glad he is out there during these times.
