This guy could have killed someone driving at those speeds. I hope they take his drivers license away forever. Dale

I have to agree with bobg. I don't think he was driving that fast. Definitley over the speed limit, deserve's a ticket. And I know if  I owned a car dealership he wouldn't be working for me after that. gypsyman

Come on boys--who has not taken their car to the limit? Some maybe--but fess up.
when they get these cars what do think they are going to do with them at least once--and they probably do it at any chance.
His fault and ignorance was doing it in a crowded highway.
I will admit to pushing my old hoopie near the limit in Wyoming and Montana.
It was a dangerous and stupid thing he did, where he did it. Kinda reminds me of the redneck boys "hold my beer and watch this."

I don't agree with that SHOOTALL. Years ago i owned a Dodge Charger that woud hit  120 without even trying. Did i drive it that way. I don't think so. Yes i did try it ONE time on an open stretch of back road. There is no way that guy was going 150.

bobg , I got pulled for doing 132 . My speed-o-meter said 129 but the radar said 132 . My next car was faster . And I would run it any time i got a chance . Most all my friends were the same . We had a lady English teacher with an XKE 12 cyl. that would do 140 anytime , she was in her 60's then. A good friend had a Charger RT/SE w/383 , nice ride but his dad had the machine Cornet RT W/440 magnum 150 no sweat , it would do 120 in first gear no kidding .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Speed, what a rush.  But the place for it is on a closed track, not public roads.  That way, when you 'crash and burn' you are the only one risking injury.  I was a paramedic for over ten years, and can't tell you how many dozens of innocent people I had to scrape off the road, because some hotrod wanted to see how fast she'd go.  Here's a local story of a hotrod that lost control and ran his maserati through a house killing the 62 year old man inside watching tv.

And to further add insult to injury this dude didn't even get any time...I guess if you can afford a maserati, you can afford a good lawyer too.

Ain't it the truth!   I friend still has the Coronet 440 and another has the 69 Hemi Roadrunner complete with a Ronnie Sox engine.   Folks would have to be terribly nieve to think they never get run out.   Got stopped in my old Cuda on a closed section of road.  The speedo registered 160 and it had maxed a mile or so before.   Didn't even get a ticket.

Just recently was streching out my truck to clear things out and was passed by a bike.  As an estimate he was in the 150 to 160 range.   Yes it can be dangerous but to think it doesn't happen every day is just silly.

I think I would be more afraid of a teenager doing 55 and typing a text message on their phone. Compared to the guy doing 150 in a Lamborgini paying attention to where he is going.

Sayo what gear ratio was in your Cuda? I had a 70 Roadrunner with a 383 and it had 323's. It wasn't a rocket out of the hole but it had plenty of top end. I went 125 in it once, and that was on a short straight away. It had plenty more to give, but that was the only time I took it to that speed. I still think today how stupid it was to go that fast. I'm sure my tires were not rated for that speed. Wish I never had sold that car. It was one of the nicest riding cars I've ever ridden in. I never was much of a Chrysler person, but the old Mopars couldn't be beat.

Shootall what rears did the Cornet have? Must have been airplane gears to achieve 120 in first.

I have occasionally slightly exceeded the speed limit in sports cars ::)  Always, however, in desolate, long straight strips of road in excellent condition.

Back in about 1964 I was flying low in my Triumph TR-3B on a new freeway to Memphis.  There was almost no traffic on this stretch of highway, so it was a natural place to let er rip.  Anyway, I was cruising along at about 115 when I spotted a little red dot in my rearview mirror.  I didn't think too much about it and just kept the hammer down.  The next time I looked in the mirror, the red dot had grown into some kind of rocket that was about to blow my doors off.

Fellas, this thing went by me like I had stomped on the brakes.  It was a bright shinny new Buick convertible with the top up, which was blown up like a balloon.  That guy had to be doing in excess of 150.

I'm glad I got all that out of my system a long time ago.
